THERE was plenty of quality golf on display across Narrabri Golfie competitions, with strong performances from both the men’s and ladies’ fields.
Wednesday’s 9-Hole Stableford Medley on 29 July was won by Neil Kinstler with 23 points, finishing three shots clear of runner-up Dancy Hannaford on 20 points.
In the Ladies’ 18-Hole Stableford, Meryl Nolan produced an outstanding round to claim victory with 40 points. Peggy Penberthy continued her consistent form to finish runner-up on 38 points after a countback. Nearest-the-pin honours went to Maree Taylor on the fifth, Prim Winston-Smith on the 12th and Penberthy on the 16th.
In the Monthly Medal Singles Stroke competition on 1 August, Zac Woodward claimed A-grade gross honours with an excellent round of 74. Shane Hartog-Smith secured the A-grade nett title with 72 ahead of Karl Hatfield on 75.
Jordan Street won the B-grade gross with 86, while Graham Thomas edged Dylan Gordon on a countback after both players returned nett scores of 73.
In C-grade, Jeff Harper took gross honours with a score of 90 while Glenn Stanford’s superb nett 71 earned him the division title ahead of Peter Dewsbury on 74.
The ladies’ Monthly Medal saw Peggy Penberthy add another trophy to her week’s efforts by winning the gross competition with a score of 96. Karen Fenton claimed the nett title with an excellent 68, while Kate Pitman finished runner-up with 73.
Nearest-the-pin prizes went to Karl Hatfield (5th), Shane Hartog-Smith (8th), Myra Joseph (12th) and Keith Greenaway (16th).
The weekend concluded with the Stableford Medley on 2 August, where Lisa Kelly claimed victory on a countback after she and Sally Boyle both finished with 22 points.
