WHAT better date than the Horses’ Birthday to mark 60 years of riding, friendship and community spirit? On 1 August, the Wee Waa and District Pony Club celebrated its 60th anniversary, bringing together past and present members to share stories, reminisce and honour the much-loved community group.
A special guest at the event was one of the club’s founding members, Clive Richardson, who, along with his late wife Greta, made a lasting impact on the club.
Since its beginnings in 1966, the Wee Waa and District Pony Club has helped generations of young riders build confidence and skills, while also creating and fostering friendships among the club’s families.
“The 60th anniversary was a wonderful opportunity for past and present members to come together, reconnect, and celebrate the friendships, achievements and memories that have made our club so special over the years,” said the Wee Waa and District Pony Club’s publicity officer Hannah Dickinson.
“A huge congratulations to our life membership recipients Brett Dickinson, Terri Brodigan and Helen Wilson.
“Thank you for your outstanding dedication, commitment, and contribution to the club over the years; this recognition is so well deserved.
“Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this remarkable milestone.
“It was truly a memorable occasion.
“We feel incredibly proud to honour the rich history and wonderful people who have shaped the Wee Waa Pony Club over the past 60 years.
“Here’s to many more years to come.”
The celebration was captured by talented local photographer John Burgess and other highlights included a spectacular anniversary cake from the Wee Waa bakery, delicious catering by the Miguels and tunes by the sensational Sam Snape.
