The Wee Waa Bowling Club’s men’s Zone Three Grade Four pennant team is dominating its section following three wins from as many games to start the season.
Wee Waa was placed in section two of its grade along with Kootingal, Manilla and South Tamworth and in the first two weekends of play it defeated all three of those sides.
The Wee Waa men took on South Tamworth Bowling Club away from home in round one on Saturday, February 29, and scored a narrow
win after outscoring the hosts 58 shots to 52 on the master score board.
Wee Waa actually lost two of the three rinks in that match, however a dominant display from the team of Steve Berger, Bruce Cowan, Phil Lawford and Cody Booby helped Wee Waa get the victory. Those four men won their rink 24 shots to 14.
The team of Peter Doring, Kevin Baker, Todd Cowan and Dustyn Allen lost their rink 19 shots to 18 despite winning 11 of the 21 ends.
The team of Raymond Dixon, Wayne Booby, Clancy Hamilton and Peter Hennessy went down 19 shots to 16.
Wee Waa’s masterboard win and victory on one of the three rinks saw it earn eight points to South Tamworth’s two.
The following day the Wee Waa men hosted Manilla at the Wee Waa Bowling Club and scored a dominant victory.
The master score board score was 86 shots to 49 to Wee Waa and the home side won all three rinks to earn all 10 points on offer.
In that match Justin Knight, Raymond Dixon, Phil Lawford and Cody Booby won their rink 33 shots to 12, Peter Doring, Kevin Baker, Wayne Booby and Toby Reynolds earned a narrow 24 shots to 23 victory on their rink and Steve Berger, Bruce Cowan, Clancy Hamilton and Jay Hall won their rink 29 shots to 14.
Those results left Wee Waa on 18 points at the top of the section ladder after two rounds.
Kootingal was second on 9.5 points followed by Manilla in third on nine points and South Tamworth last on 3.5.
On Saturday, March 7, Wee Waa played its second home game of the campaign when it hosted Kootingal in a top-of-the-table clash.
The hosts scored another convincing win, this time earning nine points to the visitors’ one after winning 61 shots to 48 on the master score board and claiming two of the three rinks.
The team of Peter Doring, Kevin Baker, Todd Cowan and Dustyn Allen scored the biggest win of the day, victorious 24 shots to 11 on its rink.
Fellow rink winners Steve Berger, Bruce Cowan, David Hogan and Cody Booby outscored their Kootingal opponents 16 shots to 14, while Raymond Dixon, Phil Lawford, Brett Pillar and Clancy Hamilton went down 23 shots to 21 despite winning 11 of the 21 ends.
Wee Waa’s next game will be played at home against South Tamworth Bowling Club on Saturday, March 21.
