Gyms may have been ordered to close while COVID-19 is out there but gym goers keen to keep fit have a ‘plan B’.

They are buying exercise equipment and continuing their workouts at home.

“We have been flat out,” said SportsPower Narrabri proprietor Brent Longworth.

“People have been buying across the whole range of personal training equipment – luckily we have a big stock and more coming. Customers needn’t worry we will run out.”

SportsPower has been unpacking new equipment to meet the demand.

“A tonne of weights arrived on Wednesday,” said Brent. “We are well stocked.”

The demand for home gym gear is ramping up across the country.

“Our supplier said his company did six weeks’ worth of sales in three days nationwide,” said Brent.

Customers can choose from exercise equipment of every kind – from home gyms to exercise bikes, strength gear, rowers, treadmills, boxing bags, resistance bands and through to yoga mats and all the accessories to keep fit at home.”

“And of course we have plenty of shoes in our big range of footwear – including football boots ordered some months ago in time for the season,” added Brent.

“But they will be ready for players when the footy season resumes once more.”
