Trinity Kelly is the Narrabri Sporties’ Major Singles champion for the second time in three years after defeating Kevin Baguley in Saturday’s final on the John McNamara Owen Campey Green.
Kelly, who won the championship in 2018, recaptured the crown with a 33-29 win after being forced to come from behind several times in an entertaining decider against Baguley.
Baguley got off to a flying start, winning six of the first eight ends to lead 10-3 early in the game.
Kelly then found some form and had hit the lead 12-10 by the 13th end after winning five consecutive ends.
Baguley levelled the score at 12-all by the 15th end. After that, the match became a seesawing affair.
Kelly claimed ends 16 and 17 to go ahead 16-12, before Baguley won the 18th, 19th and 20th ends to regain the lead by going in front 17-16.
Kelly scored one shot on the next three ends to take a 19-17 lead, then Baguley won five of the next six ends to lead 24-21 after 29 ends.
Kelly won four of the next five ends while outscoring Baguley nine shots to one to establish a 30-25 lead. That meant that Kelly required just one shot to win, however, Baguley scored the next four shots to make the score 30-29 after 37 ends.
On the 38th and final end, Baguley was holding the two shots needed for a win but Kelly played a narrower bowl, picking up the jack and following it to the ditch.
Baguley had one bowl left to play but it went wide leaving Kelly with three shots and the game 33-29.

In the Club Triples played on Saturday morning Steve Daskey, Len Ryan and Paul Crutcher had a very narrow win over Rob Wolters, Tony Redman and Graham Rose. The score was even four times during the match and was 17-all with one to end left to play. Crutcher’s team managed to score the winning point on the last end to take the game 18-17.
In Senior Singles, Kevin Hulbert defeated Bob Cantrill, and Laurie Gilbert defeated Tony Redman.
In Consistency Singles, Dave Dewar defeated Bob Cantrill 150-116, and Bob Ireland defeated Terry Wilson 150-131.
In Senior Pairs, Steve Daskey and Larry Scott defeated David Briggs and Bruce Tomlinson 25-14.

Barry Shepherd and Bill Rosewarn drew with Peter Crawford and Graham Rose 13-all. Fred Jackson, Leon Walker and Tony Redman defeated Wayne Grove, Doug Mackereth and Graham Anderson.
On Saturday, October 24, the State Triples will be played in Wee Waa. Rob Wolters is taking his bus that will leave the club at 8am.
On Saturday, October 31, there will be a flying bowlers meeting at the club at 12.30pm.
