Narrabri RSL Cricket Club first XI top order batsman Zaac Brayshaw is currently the leading run-scorer in the Narrabri District Cricket Association’s 2020-21 first grade one day competition.
Brayshaw, who guided his side home to a seven-wicket victory with an unbeaten 22 against Civeo last Saturday, has scored 273 runs in 10 innings this season at an average of 34.1.
It has been a stylish return for the 25-year-old who did not play last season.
In the round 11 match between the two top-ranked sides, Civeo co-captain Lachlan Cameron scored 33 runs in the first innings to move to 249 for the season.
Cameron was just two runs behind Brayshaw at the change of innings, but the RSL batsman’s unbeaten 22 saw him finish the round 24 runs ahead of his Civeo rival.
RSL has four batsmen in the top 10 run-scorers for the season while Civeo has three. The Razorbacks have two and Tatts has one.
At the conclusion of the round 11 match between RSL and Civeo, RSL leapfrogged its opponents into first place on the NDCA first grade one day competition ladder.
However, that was not the only lead that changed on the day.
The leading wicket-taker changed hands twice throughout the match as well.
Civeo spinner Jade Lees and RSL spinner Matt Tubner went into round 11 at the top of that leaderboard with 16 wickets each.
Fellow RSL spinner Jake Brayshaw, who had taken 15 wickets going into Saturday’s match, took his side’s fifth, sixth and seventh wickets of the game to become the leading wicket-taker with 18.
Tubner took the side’s eighth wicket to finish one behind Brayshaw and one ahead of Lees at the change of innings.
However, Lees took all three of his side’s wickets in Civeo’s loss to finish round 11 as the NDCA first grade one day competition’s leading wicket-taker with 19 scalps.
