Only one regular season round remains in the 2020-21 Narrabri Touch Inc summer season and the finals are approaching fast.
On Monday night, the men’s teams played their fourth of five graded rounds and the ladies’ teams competed in their second of three.
A-grade ladies sides Specialised Civil Services and Agies Ladies continued their dominance with convincing wins. Specialised Civil Services downed Redbacks 11-0 after Agies Ladies outscored Xtra 10-0.
The two sides have now both won two from two in the A-grade competition, and will play against one another in the third and final round to determine which team finishes on top of the table before they meet again in the March 15 major semi-final.
B-grade ladies’ side Phoenix Two390 is now the only undefeated team in its division following its round two win against Blue Birds on Monday. Those two sides were both victorious in round one, then Phoenix Two390 scored a 4-2 win to move into outright first place on the ladder.
The other B-grade ladies’ game saw the two round one losers, BPR-Tourist Hotel and Hounddogs go head-to-head. BPR-Tourist Hotel won that match 5-1.
The two victorious C-grade ladies’ teams on Monday both stretched their graded winning streaks to two.
OneDay Gals beat The Emasculators 4-2 before RSL Roulettes defeated The Rippers 7-3. OneDay Gals and RSL Roulettes will now face off in the final round of the regular season to determine which team finishes first on the ladder before they meet again in the March 15 major semi-final.
In the men’s A-grade competition, Grumley Builders made it three from three since the graded campaign began with a 7-4 win against the previously undefeated Platform X Studio.
The other men’s A-grade contest was won by Gee Bangers which downed Win Or Booze 8-3.
Damien Chiplin Plumbing had the round four bye.
Grumley Builders currently leads that competition with nine points following three wins from as many matches.
Gee Bangers and Platform X Studios are ranked second and third respectively, both on seven points following two wins and a loss each.
Fourth-placed Win Or Booze has six points following a win and three losses, while last-placed Damien Chiplin Plumbing has three points following three losses.
Win Or Booze is the only A-grade men’s side not to have sat out with a bye so far.
It has been drawn the round five bye, so to remain fourth and qualify for the finals it needs Damien Chiplin Plumbing to lose or draw its game against Grumley Builders.
In the other men’s A-grade match in round five, Platform X Studio and Gee Bangers will go head-to-head in a battle for second place.
The winner of that match can also finish first on the ladder if Grumley Builders lose.
In the men’s B-grade competition, Cougars extended their graded campaign winning streak to three games with an 8-6 win against Stylies, before an even closer contest saw DTA Lumberjacks edge out Ballbusters 2-1.
Cougars are now first on nine points following its three wins.
DTA Lumberjacks and Stylies are ranked second and third respectively, both on seven points following two wins and a loss each.
Ballbusters are fourth with five points following a draw and three losses, and Mowley’s Maniacs are last having lost two games to go with its draw.
To finish fourth and qualify for the finals, Mowley’s Maniacs will need to win or draw against Cougars in the fifth and final round of the regular season.
In the other round five B-grade men’s match, Stylies and DTA Lumberjacks will meet in a battle for second place on the ladder.
The winner of that match can also finish first on the ladder if Cougars lose.
