Seventeen Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club bowlers travelled to Moree on Tuesday, March 2, to play bowls with members from Wee Waa, Lightning Ridge and the host club at its Friendship Day.

The annual event is the first day of the lady bowlers’ season.

Narrabri bowlers Marie Redman, Dawn Armstrong and Cecile teamed up with Lightning Ridge’s Lyn Carney and were the winners on the day.

The runner-up was another Fours team which included Narrabri’s Helen Woodward and Lyn Tuckey.

On Thursday, March 4, Narrabri held a bring a friend day.

Eighteen members enjoyed a morning tea followed by bowls.

It was also a farewell to Gail Panton who has played bowls in Narrabri and is moving to Tamworth.

The winners on the day were Helen Woodward, Glennis Godden and Cecile who defeated Leslie Price, Berice Eather and Rhonda Welchman 12-5.

Jan Etheridge, Janet Coleman and Gail Panton downed Rhonda Fitzgerald, Di Chessells and Lyn Tuckey 10-7, while Jenni Hayne, Caroline Tomlinson and Marie Redman had a draw against Trish Allison, Lesley Anderson and Lyn Wedesweiler.

The club season will begin this weekend.

Matches set down for Saturday, March 13, on the first round of Club Fours are as follows:

Cards will be called at 9am for a 9.30am start.
