20-year-old rescued following Kaputar National Park fall

A man has been rescued after falling 10 metres down a lookout at Narrabri’s Kaputar National Park.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Sunday, March 21), emergency services received reports a group had been socialising at the Summit Lookout of Kaputar National Park, when a man fell over a handrail.

The man, aged 20, slid approximately 10 metres down the steep terrain and was unable to climb back out due to gale force winds and torrential rain.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended, and with the assistance of Ambulance NSW and the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association – Narrabri Rescue Squad, winched the man up the face of the Summit.

He was taken to Narrabri Hospital for observation.
