Narrabri Netball Association hosted the third round of its 2021 ladies’ winter season at the Bev Burrows Courts which was headlined by a highly-anticipated A-grade contest between Tourist Tornados and Fever.
The two sides both entered round three undefeated alongside Wee Waa Flames and P and P after all four of those teams picked up a maximum four points across the first two rounds.
Tornados got the job done in a nail-biting contest as they edged out Fever 33-32 to remain undefeated and end their opposition’s undefeated start to the campaign.
The two other undefeated teams were both victorious on Saturday. Wee Waa Flames downed Toros 50-16 and in a close contest P and P beat Pharmacy Flamingos 34-25.
The other A-grade match saw Blue Diamonds score their first win of the season when they outscored Goal Diggers 49-31.
They moved to two competition points, while Toros, Pharmacy Flamingos and Goal Diggers are all yet to record their first wins of the campaign.
Those three teams will all have a chance to do so in their respective round four games this Saturday when Toros take on Blue Diamonds and Pharmacy
Flamingos and Goal Diggers go head-to-head with undefeated teams Wee Waa Flames and Tourist Tornados respectively.
The other match will see Fever look to bounce back when it takes on P and P.
The three round three B-grade games were won by Golfie Grubs, Goss Gals and Thunderbirds on Saturday while Don’t Stop Ball-ieving had the bye.
Goss Gals became the first B-grade team to score more than 50 points in a game in 2021 when it downed The Chickies 51-14.
In much closer contests, Thunderbirds edged out Big Blues 20-18 and Golfie Grubs defeated Vicious Delicious 17-14.
Golfie Grubs remain the only undefeated B-grade team and they sit atop the ladder on a maximum six points following two victories and a bye to start the season.
In the under-11-13 competition, an all-Wee Waa match saw Namoi Cotton Thunderbirds down C and W Firebirds 20-4, while Giants defeated Lightning 23-13. Swifts had the round three bye in that division.
The under-9/10 matches were won convincingly by Diamonds and Valley Vixens in round three. Diamonds kept Emeralds scoreless in a 6-0 win, while the Valley Vixens surpassed 20 goals for a second consecutive game when they outscored Sapphires 23-2.
The two Net Set matches saw Blue and Red contest a 9-all draw and Pink beat Green 9-3.
