Narrabri Netball Association hosted the fifth round of its 2021 winter ladies’ season at the Bev Burrows Courts on Saturday where A-grade side Pharmacy Flamingos scored its first win of the campaign.
The Flamingos entered the match having lost all four of their games since the competition got underway, including a forfeit in round four due to player unavailability.
However, the side got the job done with a 40-30 victory against an in-form Blue Diamonds outfit which entered the match having won its past two games.
There was only one other A-grade match played on Saturday which saw Tourist Tornados continue their undefeated start to the campaign with a 53-15 win against P and P.
Neither of the two other matches scheduled to be played in round five went ahead after Fever forfeited against Wee Waa Flames and Goal Diggers forfeited against Toros.
Like Tourist Tornados, Wee Waa Flames have won all five of their matches during an undefeated start to the season.
Saturday’s B-grade games were won by Golfie Grubs, Big Blues and Goss Gals.
Undefeated Golfie Grubs downed The Chickies 35-9 to register their fourth consecutive victory after sitting out in round one with the bye, Big Blues bounced back from three straight losses to defeat Don’t Stop Ball-ieving 24-21 and Goss Gals scored their third consecutive win when they beat Thunderbirds 45-23.
Vicious Delicious had the round five bye.
Six matches were contested earlier in the day in the junior divisions.
In the under-11-13 competition, Swifts outscored C and W Firebirds 25-4 and Namoi Cotton Thunderbirds beat Giants 18-4.
