Like many non-profit organisations in the community, members of the Narrabri Toastmasters Club has endured a disruptive period due to the sporadic COVID-19 restrictions that have affected us all.

The club has had to change its meeting venues three times during the past year and is now meeting at the 2Max FM radio station.

Toastmasters’ members are very grateful to 2Max FM for its generous provision of the facilities.

The executive changeover function scheduled for earlier this year was unfortunately cancelled.

The election of office bearers took place instead at a general Toastmasters Club meeting on May 26.

Elected club president is Marilyn Collins, who will oversee toastmaster activities.

Marilyn is supported by three vice presidents, Gunasekhar Nachimuthu (education), Glenn Lendon (membership) and Anne Rae (publicity).

Elected secretary is Bob Kirchner, treasurer is Andrew Kerr and Jean-Claude Leculier has been elected as Sergeant-at-Arms.

Meetings follow a regular agenda where everyone is encouraged to participate, delivering speeches both prepared and impromptu, evaluating others and introducing ‘Something Topical’ or ‘Round Robin’ segments.

Anne Rae adds: “Narrabri Toastmasters’ meetings are a lot of fun, developing public speaking skills in a non-judgemental environment.

“Narrabri club members encourage the community to come and check us out.

“We meet on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month”.
