Narrabri Touch to host winter mixed season semi-finals on Monday

Five of Narrabri Touch Inc’s 10 winter season grand finalists will be decided on Monday night when the association hosts the first week of finals for its five mixed divisions.

In each division, there will be three weeks of finals contested.

In week one on Monday, major semi-finals will be played by the teams which finished first and second on their respective ladders.

The winners of those semi-finals will progress to grand final night which is scheduled for Monday, August 23.

The losers will have a second chance in preliminary finals on Monday, August 16.

Five minor semi-finals will also be contested in week one on Monday between the sides which placed third and fourth on their respective ladders.

The winners of those games will advance to the preliminary finals, while the losers will be eliminated from the 2021 competition.

The five final competition ladders are as follows:

A-grade:
First – Sprayerbarn Spinouts 9, Second – Agies 6, Third – TRTW 5, Fourth – Hammertime 4.

B-grade:
First – Tapscott Pumpers 9, Second – Win Or Booze 7, Third – The Mob 5, Fourth – Hounddogs 3.

C-grade:
First – Rags and Dags 9, Second – Tradies and Ladies 6, Third – Witty Wizards 5, Fourth – Santos Emus 4.

D-grade:
First – Outback Snaccs 7, Second – Kalyx 7, Third – Coalbed 7, Fourth – The Kerrigans 3.

E-grade:
First – Vaughany’s Pump House 9, Second – The Replacements 7, Third – Mixed Styles 5, Fourth – RSL Guys and Gals 3.

Teams which finished on nine points won all three of their graded season games, teams with seven points had two wins and a loss, teams with six points had a win, a draw and a loss, teams with five points had a win and two losses with the exception being in A-grade where it was two draws and a loss, teams with four points had a draw and two losses and teams with three points lost all three of their games.

Those ladder positions were locked in this week when the third and final round of the graded campaign was played on Monday night.

A-grade side Sprayerbarn Spinouts scored a 9-3 win against Agies to claim top spot on its ladder.

Agies placed second while TRTW and Hammertime, which drew 6-all in the other A-grade game on Monday, placed third and fourth respectively.

The two top-ranked B-grade sides were victorious on Monday.

First-placed team Tapscott Pumpers defeated third-placed side The Mob 4-2 and second-placed Win Or Booze beat last-placed Hounddogs 8-3.

In C-grade, Rags and Dags scored a 7-5 victory against third-placed Witty Wizards, while second-placed Tradies and Ladies drew 5-all with fourth-placed Santos Emus.

Monday’s D-grade games saw Outback Snaccs down Coalbed 8-5 and Kalyx beat The Kerrigans 7-1.

Those results saw first-placed Outback Snaccs, second-placed Kalyx and third-placed Coalbed all finish on the same amount of points, with tries for and against difference deciding where they finished on the ladder.

In E-grade, Vaughany’s Pump House beat second-placed side The Replacements 2-0 to finish first and third-placed Mixed Styles edged out fourth-placed RSL Guys and Gals 6-5.

The draw for the first round of finals to be played on Monday is as follows:

6pm: Field one – Sprayerbarn Spinouts v Agies (Tom Nolan, Craig Gleeson); field two – Rags and Dags v Tradies and Ladies (Wayne Nott, Jakeb Nipperess); field three – Outback Snaccs v Kalyx Krusaders (Brendon Warnock, Cassidy Staines); field four – Mixed Styles v RSL Guys and Gals (Clayton Pursche, Brett Allison).

6.35pm: Desk duty – Joan O’Neill; field one – TRTW v Hammertime (Connor Duncan, Nathan Dicks); field two – Tapscott Pumpers v Win or Booze (Peter Quirk, Alisha Conomos); field three – Witty Wizards v Santos Emus (Jeremy Saunders, Danny Laws); field four – Coalbed v The Kerrigans (Ken Campbell, Kristy Toomey).

7.10pm: Field one – Vaughany’s Pump House v The Replacements (Linton Grumley, Craig Gleeson).

Bye – Hounddogs (straight through to B-grade preliminary final, no B-grade minor semi-final on Monday).
