Finalists locked in for senior netball grades

Narrabri Netball Association’s A-grade and B-grade competition finalists are locked in with three rounds left to play following Saturday’s round 11 matches at Narrabri’s Bev Burrows Courts.

In A-grade, Wee Waa Flames, Tourist Tornados and defending champions Fever will all take part in the three-team, two-week finals series next month after all scored dominant victories on Saturday.

Wee Waa Flames outscored Pharmacy Flamingos 45-28, Tourist Tornados downed Goal Diggers 50-25 and Fever beat P and P 40-21.

In the other A-grade match, Toros scored their third win of the campaign when they defeated Blue Diamonds 41-16.

First-placed Wee Waa Flames and second-placed Tourist Tornados are now locked on 20 points each at the completion of round 11, while Fever is just two points (one win) back in third place.

Fever takes on the Flames in round 12 this Saturday in a match that will be crucial for both sides’ minor premiership hopes, while the Tornados challenge fourth-placed P and P.

In B-grade, the top three teams all picked up two points on Saturday in round 11 to cement their spots in the September finals series.

Ladder leaders Vicious Delicious downed Don’t Stop Ball-ieving 24-14, second-placed Goss Gals had the bye and third-placed Golfie Grubs edged out Big Blues 26-23.

At the completion of the 11th round, the trio occupying those top three positions have all accumulated 18 points.

In the other B-grade match, Thunderbirds leapfrogged Don’t Stop Ball-ieving into fourth place after defeating The Chickies 23-11.

In the under-11-13 competition, first-placed Giants had the round 11 bye which saw them move to 18 points at the top.

They are just one win clear of second-placed side Swifts after the Swifts got the job done when they beat the third-placed Namoi Cotton Thunderbirds 20-15 on Saturday.

In the other game, C and W Firebirds defeated Lightning 17-14 as the fourth-placed side missed a chance to move within one point of the top three.

Over in the under-9/10 competition, Valley Vixens won a top-of-the-table clash to keep their undefeated streak alive.

They scored their 11th victory from as many attempts in 2021 when they downed second-placed Diamonds 13-6.

The other match saw fourth-placed Emeralds score their second win of the season after beating third-placed Sapphires 11-5.
