Lyn Wedesweiler, Cindy Neil and Rhonda Welchman are the Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2021 Club Triples champions.
The ladies defeated the team of Glennis Godden, Di Chessells and Eva Sadler 18-17 in a very close final which was contested at Narrabri Sporties’ John McNamara Owen Campey Green on Saturday.
Sadler’s team established an early lead after claiming the first four ends to go ahead 9-0 in the 21-end match.
Welchman’s team responded by winning the following six ends to reduce the deficit to one point, then that 9-8 scoreline became a 10-9 advantage to Welchman’s team when it won its seventh consecutive end with a two on the 11th to take the lead for the first time in the game.
Sadler’s team scored one shot on the 12th end to make the score 10-all, however, Welchman’s team quickly established a lead that it would never surrender.
The eventual champions scored a two on the 13th end before winning two of the following three ends to make the score 15-11 with five ends to play.
Sadler’s team scored a two on the 17th end to get within two points of the leaders by making the score 15-13.
But once again, Welchman’s team claimed three shots during the next two ends and they led 18-13 with two ends left to play.
Sadler’s team scored four points across those last two ends but that was not enough to force a tie-breaking end as Welchman’s team held on to win by one and claim victory.
Meanwhile, Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club hosted a trophy day last Thursday.
The winners were Berice Eather (who played swinging lead), Trish Allison, Janet Coleman and Eva Sadler who defeated Jan Etheridge, Helen Woodward and Lisa Pillar 22-17.
Runners-up went to Olwyn Campey, Cecile and Rhonda Welchman who defeated Carolynne Tomlinson, Ronnie Dewar and Lyn Tuckey 14-11.
Glennis Godden, Di Chessells and Beryl Regan had a draw against Rhonda Fitzgerald, Kay Carolan and Mary Wheeler 12-12.
Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s Consistency Singles competition will begin this Thursday.

Cecile v Glennis Godden (marker – Veronica Dewar), Dawn Armstrong v Eva Sadler (marker – Gloria Campey), Rhonda Welchman v Kay Carolan (marker – Sue Solomon).
One more Consistency Singles game will be played on Saturday:
