The excitement and anticipation of a brand new Narrabri District Cricket Association season quickly turned to disappointment on Saturday morning
after the first round matches were unable to be played.

Narrabri received rain during the early hours of Friday morning, then more rain fell that evening which left puddles on the pitches and in the outfield of all three grounds that the round one matches were scheduled to be played on.

First grade sides were scheduled to play one day matches in round one from 12.30pm which were set to be followed by the second grade T20 season openers.

The NDCA told The Courier that those games would not be rescheduled to another date.

This Saturday’s round two games will now act as the curtain-raiser to a new first grade season.

The Western Razorbacks and Tourist Hotel will go head-to-head at Hogan Oval while RSL starts its premiership defence against Tatts at Leitch Oval.

The second grade competition is scheduled to begin on Friday night when RSL takes on Tatts at Collins Park and Tourist Hotel and Tourist Sports Bar meet in a club derby match at Hogan Oval.

Both of those games will be played under lights.
