The final day of the 2021 Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club season was played at Narrabri Sporties on Thursday where the champion of the Patron’s Trophy competition was crowned.
There were three games of three-bowls triples played on the day.
Carol Demamiel, Olwyn Campey and Mary Wheeler defeated Gloria Campey, Kay Carolan and Lyn Tuckey 17-8, Rhonda Fitzgerald, Trish Allison and Janet Coleman downed Marie Redman, Cecile and Dawn Armstrong 21-16, and Carolynne Tomlinson, Heather Caton and Di Chessells beat Ronnie Dewar, Sue Solomon and Helen Woodward 13-10.
The overall winner of the Patron’s Trophy, which is decided on the best of three scores from the four rounds, is Carolynne Tomlinson who finished on top, five points clear of her nearest opponents with a score of 61 points.
Mary Wheeler and Carol Demamiel scored 56 points and Trish Allsion and Janet Coleman scored 55 points.
Although the ladies’ season is now officially over, there are still several players who wish to keep playing on Thursday mornings.
Bowlers will meet from 8.30am on Thursday to commence at about 9am.
Meanwhile, there were no men’s competition matches played on the weekend.
A group of 12 players enjoyed a morning of mixed Russian Roulette bowls on Saturday morning.
In the first game of six ends, Carol Demamiel and Trish Allison beat Di Chessells and Barry Shepherd 10-2, Olwyn Campey and Anthony Welchman defeated Rhonda Welchman and Bill Rosewarn 7-2, and Mary Wheeler and Tony Redman downed Kay Carolan and Marie Redman 8-1.
In the second game of six ends, Barry Shepherd and Bill Rosewarn had a 5-all draw against Anthony Welchman and Marie Redman, Carol Demamiel and Mary Wheeler beat Olwyn Campey and Tony Redman 8-4, and Di Chessells and Rhonda Welchman edged out Trish Allison and Kay Carolan 6-5.
In the third game of six ends, Marie and Tony Redman beat Kay Carolan and Barry Shepherd 9-1, Trish Allison and Rhonda Welchman outscored Olwyn Campey and Di Chessells 6-1, and Mary Wheeler and Bill Rosewarn defeated Carol Demamiel and Rhonda Welchman 9-3.
The overall winner for the day was Mary Wheeler on 18 points, with Tony Redman and Anthony Welchman sharing second spot on 17 points.

Mixed Pairs at 9.30am:

Club Fours at 1.30pm:
Bruce Tomlinson, Terry Wilson, Preston Clark and Kevin Baguley v Ron Ryan, Rob Wolters, Laurie Gilbert and Paul Crutcher.
Anthony Welchman, Peter Crawford, Tony Redman and Norm Wolford v Bob Cantrill, Scott Dewar, Bill Rosewarn and Trinity Kelly.
Social bowls will also be played on Saturday morning. Anyone interested in playing social bowls is asked to have their names on the sheet at the club.
