Wee Waa United FC recently named its first and reserve grade coaches for next year’s Namoi Soccer League campaign.
The first grade side will be coached by David Avery in 2022, while club president Andy Kiely will co-coach the reserve grade team alongside Chris Johnson.
Avery was one of the heroes of Wee Waa United’s most recent grand final victory back in 2019. With the score locked at 2-all late in extra time against minor premiers Narrabri FC at Hogan Oval, Avery ran onto an AJ Swansbra through ball and slotted the winning goal past Narrabri FC goalkeeper Zaac Brayshaw.
Wee Waa finished third on the 2020 ladder before missing out on the grand final but looked set to return to the big dance this year after finishing second and earning the right to host the preliminary final before the season was abandoned as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
Avery is now determined to help guide the club’s first grade team back to the grand final next year.
He replaces premiership-winning coach Shane Soutter who will relocate from Wee Waa to Nambucca Heads in 2022 alongside his family.
