Dustyn Allen is Wee Waa Bowling Club’s Consistency Singles champion for 2021 after winning Saturday’s final against Toby Reynolds at the Laurie Hoad Green.
Reynolds, the club’s 2021 A-grade Singles champion, was determined to continue his singles domination in that match but was forced to give up a 24 shot handicap start to his final opponent.
The 16-year-old young gun Allen made the most of that head start and led for the entirety of the match which lasted 32 ends.
Allen scored a 7-3 on the 32nd end to surpass the 150-shot target and win the contest 155-121.
The two finalists scored five points each on the first end, before Allen claimed the next five to establish a 44-shot lead.
Reynolds won his first end on the seventh when he claimed a 7-3 to get back in the positives, but at that stage, Allen led 43-3
Reynolds won three of the next six ends and the two bowlers scored five each on two occasions which reduced the trailing bowler’s deficit to 32 points when the scoreboard read 69-37 to Allen at the completion of the 13th end.
However, across the next seven ends, Allen outscored Reynolds a combined 40 shots to 18 to extend his lead to 54 points.
That was the largest margin which either bowler led by during the game and it inspired Reynolds to go on a run of his own to reduce the deficit to 28 points.
He outscored Allen 36 shots to 10 from the 21st end to the 25th which made the score 119-91.
Reynolds then reduced the deficit to 26 shots at the end of the 30th end, however, Allen led 141-115 at that stage which meant Reynolds needed to score 35 shots while restricting his opponent to less than nine to win the match.
What was a very tough task became almost impossible for Reynolds when Allen scored a 7-3 on the 31st end to make the score 148-118.
The young gun then scored another 7-3 on what was the 32nd and final end to secure a dominant victory and be crowned champion.
