David Briggs, Steve Daskey, Larry Scott and Dave Dewar have qualified for the Narrabri Bowling Club’s 2021 season Club Fours final following a dominant 16-shot semi-final victory on Saturday.
That team defeated Ron Ryan, Colin Armstrong, Laurie Gilbert and Paul Crutcher 29-13 at Narrabri Sporties’ John McNamara Owen Campey Green.
Dewar’s team went down on the first end to go behind 3-0 before it won the next four ends to establish an 11-3 advantage.
Crutcher’s team fought back to level the match at 11-all at the end of the 11th end.
Dewar and his teammates scored a four on the 12th end to retake the lead, which they would not give up again as they won six of the final eight ends a combined 14 shots to two to progress to the decider.
A quarter-final match was also contested on Saturday which saw Bob Cantrill, Scott Dewar, Bill Rosewarn and Trinity Kelly score a narrow win against Anthony Welchman, Peter Crawford, Tony Redman and Norm Wolford.
Wolford’s team was leading 5-4 after seven ends, then Kelly’s team scored six shots across the next four ends to take a 10-5 lead.
The score was 12-all after 17 ends, then 13 all on the 19th end. Kelly’s team then scored a three on the 20th end to go ahead 16-13.
Wolford’s team held two shots on the last end, with Wolford trying to score another with his last bowl but he just missed and the final score was 16-15.
Cantrill, Dewar, Rosewarn and Kelly now turn their attention to their semi-final match which will be played on Saturday at 9.30am against Ian Macmillan, David Slacksmith, Len Ryan and Graham Rose.
