The Northern Inland Bolters were informed earlier this week that they had qualified for the 2021-22 Plan B Regional Bash conference final round, which they will play at the SCG next year, despite the side losing the only game it played at the Sixers Pool One qualifiers earlier this month.
The Bolters headed off to the coast, where they were scheduled to play three games in Ballina across the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, December 4 and 5, but the two Sunday matches were washed out.
Narrabri’s Nathan Trindall and Wee Waa’s Dylan Smith were selected to play for the Bolters, but only Trindall travelled with the team after Smith was left flooded in at Wee Waa.
On day one, Northern Inland took on the Coffs Coast Chargers and went down by two wickets. The chasing side reached the required total with just eight balls to spare after the Bolters scored 9-103 in the first innings.
However, the competition requires two of those games to be played for a result to be determined.
The tie-breaker became the seeding based on last season’s results with that not occurring.
The Northern Inland Bolters were the highest seeded of the four Sixers Pool One teams, which meant they progressed to the conference finals.
They will take on Lake Mac Attack in the conference final after that side downed both Central Coast Rush and the Hunter Thoroughbreds before defeating Newcastle Blasters in a top-of-the-table clash to determine who would progress.
Lake Mac Attack was crowned the Plan B Regional Bash champions in the 2019-20 season before it went down against ACT Aces last season in a grand final rematch.
The winner of the Sixers Pool conference final will play the winner of the Thunder Pool conference final, which will feature the ACT Aces and the Central West Wranglers, in the competition’s grand final, which will also be contested at the SCG.
