Collins Park will host an MA Connolly Cup semi-final game after the Narrabri District Cricket Association representative first XI topped its conference.
The final round of the regular season was contested on Sunday, which saw Narrabri’s home game against Tamworth abandoned after the visitors forfeited the match.
The undefeated Pink Slugs have endured a disrupted 2021-22 campaign, during which they only completed one match.
Their round one and round two games, against Gunnedah and Quirindi respectively, were washed out and declared draws before the Pink Slugs defeated the Central North Zone Colts side in round three.
Sunday’s round five forfeit win followed a round four bye.
Those results saw Narrabri finish on top of the Namoi Conference ladder on 16 points as the Pink Slugs narrowly edged out the second-placed Quirindi (15 points).
Quirindi won its round five away game against the last-placed Gunnedah by 45 runs on Sunday to sneak into the top two.
Quirindi will now play an away semi-final against the top-ranked Gwydir Conference team.
Narrabri’s opponent will be the team that placed second on the Gwydir Conference ladder.
The two top-ranked Gwydir Conference teams are Armidale and Gwydir, which will play against one another in a rescheduled round two match this weekend. The winner of that match will finish first on the conference ladder and the loser will place second.
The competition’s semi-finals are scheduled to be played on Sunday, February 13, followed by the final on Sunday, February 20.
