Wee Waa Bowling Club’s 2022 season got underway on Sunday with two singles matches.

Justin Knight scored a 32-7 victory against Charlie Thompson in A-grade Singles, while Melissa Allen defeated Kyne Allen 31-24 in B-grade Singles.

Knight and Thompson traded an end each to start their A-grade Singles match as the score became 1-all after two ends.

Knight then went on a dominant run, during which he managed to win nine consecutive ends to establish a 15 shots to one lead.

Thompson won the next three ends to reduce his deficit to 11, then Knight scored three shots across the next two ends to make the score 18-4.

Thompson outscored Knight three shots to two across the next five ends to make the scoreboard read 20-7 after 21 ends of play.

However, any hopes of a potential comeback were dashed as Knight went on to claim the next five ends a combined 12 shots to nothing to win the match 32-7 and advance to the next round.

The B-grade Singles match between Melissa Allen and Kyne Allen was an epic encounter, which lasted 37 ends before Melissa was able to find the winning shot.

The pair were tied at 1-all after two ends, 8-all after 11 ends, 10-all after 14 ends and 13-all after 17 ends.

Kyne led 16-15 at the completion of the 22nd end before Melissa went on a remarkable run which saw her establish an unassailable lead.

She won four consecutive ends to go ahead 24-16 after 26 ends, then won three of the next five ends to extend her lead to 10 shots by making the score 29-19.

Kyne won four of the following five ends to make the score 30-24 after 36 ends of play.

However, his comeback attempt was finished on the 37th end when Melissa scored the match-winning point to take the game 31-24.
