Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club hosts popular ‘bring a friend day’

The Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club began its 2022 season on Thursday, March 3, with a ‘bring a friend’ day at the John McNamara Owen Campey Green.

There were 34 players who enjoyed the morning, with 15 of those women who were being introduced to bowls on the day.

Di Chessells, Margaret Burke, Lisa Pillar and Lesley Anderson downed Trish Allison, Kim Owens, Sharyn Norrie and Olwyn Campey 17-4.

Jan Etheridge, Helen Briggs, Chris Cain and Carol Demamiel defeated Val Falkiner, Margaret Wilson, Anne Cain and Rhonda Fitzgerald 13-6.

Mary Wheeler, Trish Lawty, Joan McNamara and Marie Redman beat Ronnie Dewar, Irene Tomlinson, Gloria Brown and Carol Tomlinson 7-3.

Berice Eather, Rosella Hatton, Kay Carolan and Venessa Tomlinson beat Cecile, Janice Fox, Bec Armstrong and Glennis Godden 11-8.

Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 Club Fours competition will get underway on Thursday, March 10.

Fixtures are as follows:

Marie Redman, Yvonne Hardman, Lyn Wedesweiler and Val Falkiner v Rhonda Fitzgerald, Trish Allison, Lyn Tuckey and Heather Caton.

Glennis Godden, Di Chessells, Janet Coleman and Cecile v Jan Etheridge, Kay Carolan, Sue Solomon and Mary Wheeler.

Another Club Fours match will be played on Saturday, March 12:

Denise Wall, Ronnie Dewar, Debbie Gleeson and Lorraine Scott v Helen Woodward, Dawn Armstrong, Cindy Neil and Eva Sadler.

Meanwhile, several lady bowlers were in action in Narrabri Bowling Club’s 2021 Mixed Triples matches on Saturday.

Bob Cantrill, Lyn Wedesweiler and Ian Macmillan defeated Lyn Tuckey, Laurie Gilbert and Graham Rose 19-16, and Di Chessells, Col Armstrong and Bill Rosewarn downed Ronnie Dewar, Cindy Neil and Dave Dewar 22-12.

Two more mixed matches have been scheduled for Saturday, March 12.

In Mixed Triples at 9.30am, Bob Cantrill, Lyn Tuckey and Trinity Kelly will take on David Slacksmith, David Briggs and Scott Dewar.

Then in Mixed Fours at 1.30pm, Helen Woodward, Eva Sadler, Norm Walford, Trinity Kelly will challenge Ronnie Dewar, Beryl Regan, Dave
Dewar and Ian Macmillan.

Narrabri Bowling Club advised that any men interested in social bowls can meet at the club by 8.45am on Thursday morning for a game.

Barefoot bowls is still being played on Thursday nights from 6pm.
