Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 season in full swing as Club Fours comp gets underway

Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 season competition schedule commenced on Thursday with the first round of the Club Fours.

There were two matches played on the day.

Beryl Regan (who was a sub for Lyn Wedesweiler), Carol Demamiel, Val Falkiner and Marie Redman downed Rhonda Fitzgerald, Trish Allison, Heather Caton and Lyn Tuckey 20-16.

In the other game, Jan Etheridge, Sue Solomon, Kay Carolan and Mary Wheeler won 22-13 against Glennis Godden, Cecile, Di Chessells and Janet Coleman.

There was another Club Fours game played on Saturday, which saw Helen Woodward, Lesley Anderson (sub for Dawn Armstrong), Cindy Neil and Eva Sadler defeat Denise Wall, Joyce Briggs (sub for Debbie Gleeson), Ronnie Dewar and Lorraine Scott 21-20.

Sadler’s team led 21-17 with one end to play. Scott needed four to cause an extra end but fell short as she scored a three on the last end.

Social bowls was also played on Thursday.

Gloria Campey and Berice Eather edged out Trish Lawty and Eva Sadler 18-17, while Joan McNamara, Carol Tomlinson and Ronnie Dewar beat Margaret Burke, Lesley Anderson and Helen Woodward 16-11.

There will be no competition action this Thursday, March 17, or Saturday, March 19, as the Narrabri ladies will travel to Forster/Tuncurry to compete in the State Pennant Playoffs.

The players which will represent Narrabri are Marie Redman, Cecile, Lyn Wedesweiler and Lisa Pillar, and Helen Woodward, Di Chessells, Cindy Neil and Eva Sadler. Ronnie Dewar is Narrabri’s reserve and the manager is Dawn Armstrong.

Narrabri will play Brunnswick Heads on Friday, March 18, at 12.45pm. It will then meet Wyong on Saturday morning and will go head-to-head with Gymea on Saturday afternoon.

The first semi-final of the 2022 Club Fours competition will be contested on Thursday, March 24.

Lyn Wedesweiler, Carol Demamiel, Val Falkiner and Marie Redman will challenge Jan Etheridge, Sue Solomon, Kay Carolan and Mary Wheeler in that match.

The second semi-final will be played on Saturday, March 26.

Helen Woodward, Dawn Armstrong, Cindy Neil and Eva Sadler will meet Carol Tomlinson, Gloria Campey, Berice Eather and Lisa Pillar in that match.
