Eva Sadler and Trinity Kelly crowned Mixed Pairs champions

Eva Sadler and Trinity Kelly are the Narrabri Bowling Club’s Mixed Pairs champions for 2021 after defeating Helen Woodward and Rob Wolters in a close contest in the competition’s final on Friday night.

Sadler and Kelly had established a 15-8 lead after 10 ends.

Woodward and Wolters then scored 10 unanswered shots across the next three ends to take a 18-15 lead.

Sadler and Kelly scored nine shots to four across the next five ends to make the score 25-19 with one end to play.

Woodward and Wolters scored four on the last end, but it wasn’t enough as they went down 25-23.

Meanwhile, the two teams that will play in Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 Fours final have both been decided.

The first semi-final was played on Thursday, which saw Jan Etheridge, Sue Solomon, Kay Carolan and Mary Wheeler beat Lyn Wedesweiler, Carol Demamiel, Val Falkiner and Marie Redman 22-17.

Wheeler’s team was leading by one shot with two ends left to play.

They held shot on the 20th end and Redman tried to remove the bowl but flicked the jack in the direction of their back bowls, which led to them holding five shots. Redman, with her last bowl, attempted to pick jack, but narrowly missed and the team went down by five shots.

The second semi-final was played on Saturday, when Carol Tomlinson, Gloria Campey, Berice Eather and Lisa Pillar were too good for Helen Woodward, Dawn Armstrong (sub) Joyce Briggs, Cindy Neil and Eva Sadler.

The final score was 25-9.

The final of the Fours competition between those two winning teams will be played on Thursday afternoon.

Ladies’ social bowls was played last Thursday.

Gloria Campey, Olwyn Campey and Cecile beat Heather Caton, Glennis Godden and Berice Eather 17-8, and Di Chessells, Sandra Norrie, Lyn Tuckey defeated Di Chessells, Ronnie Dewar and Trish Lawty 14-8.

Twelve bowlers enjoyed a morning of Russian Roulette social bowls on Saturday morning.

The winner for the morning was Janice Fox, who had four wins.

The runner-up was Mary Wheeler, who scored three wins and the Bradman went to Cindy Neil with three losses and a draw.

The nominations sheets are up at the club for all of the men’s competitions for 2022. Bowlers are asked to put their names down for the 2022 competitions.

Nomination for the ladies’ 2022 Club Singles competition closes on Wednesday 30th March.

Men’s social bowls and ladies’ social bowls will be played this Thursday, while mixed social bowls will be played again on Saturday, April 2. Names in by 9am and play to then commence 9.30am.
