Narrabri Touch Inc hosted the 10th round of its 2022 mixed competition on Monday night, the last before the season breaks for two weeks for the Easter Monday and Anzac Day public holidays.
The campaign will then resume on Monday, May 2, with round 11 games, which will see the run home towards the finals begin.
Agies enters the two-week break on top of the table on maximum points after scoring its 10th win of the season on Monday.
However, for the fourth time this season, it missed out on a game as it prevailed by a forfeit.
It was scheduled to play the sixth-placed side Win Or Booze this week, which dropped down the ladder to seventh after being unable to field a team and forfeiting the game.
It has now won five matches in the 2022 season and lost the other five.
Agies’ closest rival remains just one win behind in second place. That is Tradies and Ladies, which scored its ninth victory of the season in round 10 when it defeated Who’s Shout 7-5.
Tradies and Ladies’ for and against difference of 53 is one better than Agies’, so when those two sides go head-to-head in round 11 on May 2, Tradies and Ladies can knock Agies off its perch at the top of the table with a win.
One of the most highly-anticipated matches in round 10 saw third-placed Tapscott Pumpers challenge the fifth-placed Hammer Time. Both sides went into the match on equal points, having both won seven matches in 2022.
It was Hammer Time that got the job done with a nail-biting 3-2 victory.
That saw Hammer Time finish the round in fourth, a position that was previously occupied by Sprayerbarn Spinouts. The Spinouts also went into round 10 with a 7-2 record and scored their eighth victory of the year when they downed Cougars 9-1 to go into the break ranked third.
The Tapscott Pumpers are now fifth, highlighting exactly how tight things are at the top of the table after they were second at the completion of round eight but fell down three spots following back-to-back losses.
One win behind the Pumpers in sixth place is TRTW. TRTW entered the round in seventh position, but scored an 8-1 win against Hounddogs to leapfrog Win Or Booze into sixth.
Also climbing the ladder in round 10 was Lumberjacks (and Jills), which scored an 8-1 win against Kerrigans on Monday. Lumberjacks (and Jills) entered the round in ninth place but finished it in eighth after overtaking Who’s Shout.
Another team that jumped a spot up the ladder was Witty Wizards. The Wizards went into the 10th round of the campaign occupying the 12th spot of the 14-team ladder but scored a second consecutive win for the first time in 2022 after downing RSL Guys and Gals 6-3, which saw them leapfrog Hounddogs into 11th place.
