Narrabri Rugby Club travelled to Sir Owen Glenn Field on Saturday for the second round of Central North Rugby Union’s 2022 campaign and returned home from Scone with all 15 points on offer after scoring three shutout wins.

The Blue Boars took on the Scone Brumbies in women’s 10s and men’s second and first grade matches and managed to hold the hosts scoreless in all three games.

The women’s side kicked off the day with a 58-0 victory, which was the same score the second grade side won by. The first XV then prevailed 42-0 in its first match of the campaign.

After missing out on a round one match due to Barraba/Gwydir being unable to field a first XV in 2022, the Blue Boars started in style in round two.

Narrabri crossed for eight tries in its 42-0 victory and left even more points out on the park after converting just one of those.

Felix Cobb-Johnson and Hamish Nolan crossed for a try each in their first grade debuts, and the other six were shared between Toby Keys, Will McDonnell, James Albert, Tom Nolan, Daniel Kahl and James Baker.

The Moree Bulls and Quirindi Lions were also round two winners, both on home soil.

Moree defeated Tamworth Pirates 40-19, and Quirindi beat Walcha Rams 30-20, while Inverell Highlanders and Gunnedah Red Devils had the byes.

Narrabri Rugby Club’s women’s side picked up right where it left off before the Easter break in round two.

After scoring a 92-0 victory on home soil in round one, the Narrabri side kept a second consecutive clean sheet in its first away game of the campaign on Saturday.

The Blue Boars outscored the hosts 10 tries to none and four conversions to none in the 58-point rout.

Shona McFarland scored the first try of the day as Narrabri started on the front foot.

Teammates Kate Brown, Toni Gale and Tenayah Woodward all finished the match with doubles, and Martha Harvey, Gerri Cruckshank and Brooke McKinnon crossed for a try each.

The four goals were shared between Zoe Tomlinson, Gale, Woodward and Brown.

In second grade, the Narrabri Blue Boars piled on nine tries and also kicked five conversions and a penalty goal.

James Baker crossed for four of the tries while Alex Pay scored two and Jack Maunder, Simon Haire and Nick Anderson claimed one each.

Pay also kicked all six goals to add 13 extra points off the boot.

Those results meant that Narrabri finished the weekend on top of the table in all three grades.

The Blue Boars will challenge the Quirindi Lions in round three on Saturday when Narrabri Rugby Club hosts its ladies’ day at Dangar Park.
