Narrabri Netball Association’s 2022 season is well and truly in full swing after the second round of the campaign was contested at the Bev Burrows Courts on Saturday.

It was a warm day for all involved as the sun came out to shine following three days of rain in Narrabri.

In A-grade, last season’s high-fliers Wee Waa Flames contested their first game of the season after sitting out of the opening round a week earlier with a bye.

The Flames took on one of the other top sides in the 2021 season, Tourist Tornadoes, and scored a 33-22 win to start their season on the front foot.

Fellow Wee Waa side Not Fast But Furious won in an even closer contest as it defeated Golfie Grubs 36-29. Not Fast But Furious finished the round in second on the seven-team ladder as one of two sides to win its first two games.

The other side to achieve that was Fever, which outscored the Pharmacy Flamingos 35-13 to finish the round in top spot.

Vicious Delicious had the bye in the second round of the A-grade comp.

In B-grade, Pretty Poison edged out Win Or Booze 22-21, The Goats downed Win Diesel 33-12, All Nets beat Wilga Warriors 35-15, and Blue Rebels defeated Hot Shots 35-15.

In the under-11-13 junior comp, Magpies, Lightning and the Namoi Cotton Thunderbirds all remained undefeated after scoring their second consecutive wins to kick off the 2022 season in style.

Thunderbirds downed Giants 17-7, Lightning defeated C and W Firebirds 14-6, and Magpies beat Swifts 17-2.

In the under-9/10 competition, the Valley Vixens won both of their games to finish the round on top of the three-team ladder, following four wins from as many matches.

They beat The Diamonds 4-0 and The Roses 5-1 on Saturday before The Roses defeated The Diamonds 3-1 in the other second-round match.

A blockbuster round three A-grade clash between the two Wee Waa sides will headline this Saturday’s fixtures, with third-placed Wee Waa Flames and the second-placed Not Fast But Furious going head-to-head for the first time this season.

Other A-grade matches in round three will see Pharmacy Flamingos take on Vicious Delicious, and Golfie Grubs challenge Fever.

Tourist Tornadoes have the round three bye.

In the third round of the B-grade campaign, Wilga Warriors will meet Win Diesel, Pretty Poison takes on Blue Rebels, The Goats and Win Or Booze go head-to-head, and All Nets plays against Hot Shots.

The under-11-13 games will see Namoi Cotton Thunderbirds take on Swifts, C and W Firebirds challenge Giants, and the Magpies play against Lightning.

The three under-9/10 competition teams will play two games each, following a skills session to kick off the day.
