The semi-finalist for Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2022 Veteran Singles competition have been decided after two very close quarter-finals.
Ronnie Dewar got off to a great start against Di Chessells in their quarter-final contest and led 11-2 after eight ends.
Chessells then scored nine shots across the next four ends to equal the score at 11 all. By the 20th end, the score was 17-all and after 23 ends it was 20-all.
Dewar then scored eight shots across the next three ends to win the match 28-20.
Lyn Tuckey and Kay Carolan were also even after eight ends on 6-all in their quarter-final match. Carolan then took the lead with the score at 12-7 after 12 ends.
The score was 14-11 to Carolan on the 18th end when Tuckey scored a four to take a 15-14 lead. Carolan remained on 14 for five ends while Tuckey scored six shots.
Tuckey then went on to win 26-16 after 25 ends of play.
Dewar and Tuckey joined Marie Redman and Helen Woodward in the semi-final round. Both semi-finals will be played this Thursday, June 9.
Social bowls was also played last Thursday.
Yvonne Hardman and Berice Eather defeated Irene Tomlinson and Cecile 26-4, and Trish Allison played swinging lead and with Carolynne Tomlinson and Janet Coleman defeated Gloria Campey and Glennis Godden 18-8.
Veteran Singles semi-finals to be played on Thursday, June 9, are as follows:
Marie Redman v Helen Woodward (marker – Janet Coleman), Lyn Tuckey v Ronnie Dewar (marker – Di Chessells).
