Plans have been lodged for the demolition of the building on the former site of the Boggabri Bowling Club.

The site, owned by Narrabri Shire Council, will see the main building and ancillary structures demolished.

The former building is in a state of disrepair.

In its plans for the site demolition, council said any future plans for construction did not form part of a development application.

Instead, future use of the site would be a part of a separate development application to be made at a future date.

The demolition of the building is considered to be in the public interest as it currently represents a community safety hazard and the structure has been identified as containing non-friable asbestos.

Fencing will be used to screen the demolition from public view.

Any demolition works will be undertaken between 7am and 6pm on a Monday to Saturday.

“The development only involves the demolition of a building that is no longer providing any social or economic benefits and has been identified as a community safety risk due to its dilapidated state and the presence of asbestos,” demolition plans state.

“During the process, fencing will ensure unauthorised entry is prevented on a potentially dangerous demolition site with asbestos and will mitigate negative visual impacts from the demolition.

“Since no construction is involved, no clearing of vegetation will be necessary for this development.”
