Narrabri District Cricket Association hosted a board meeting last week on Wednesday evening to discuss how the season would proceed following a wet start to the 2022/23 campaign.

Redoing the draw to include one day games during December and January was initially floated as an idea, but it was decided that the draw for both grades would remain as originally planned, at this stage, going forward.

Only two of the 12 games scheduled to be contested across the first four rounds have been played, which were back in round one.

All matches in rounds two to four of the first grade comp were declared washouts, as were round two and three second grade matches and the round one first grade game between Tatts and Western Razorbacks.

That has seen sides split the points in all of those games, with washouts called draws in the NDCA comps.

It was also decided that the round four second grade game between RSL and Tourist Hotel would be played on a synthetic pitch at Cooma Oval on Saturday. However, that match was later called a washout as the field was too wet to play on.

The season is expected to resume this Saturday for both grades, with the NDCA board hopeful that Collins Park and Hogan Oval will be playable.

At this stage, Leitch Oval looks like it will not be available until at least the week after, meaning that the second grade game will be played at Gately Field or Cooma Oval.

The first grade matches scheduled for round five on Saturday have RSL playing against Tatts at Hogan Oval, and the Western Razorbacks meeting Tourist Hotel at Collins Park.

The second grade contest will be played between RSL and Tatts, with Tourist Hotel to sit out with the bye.

Meanwhile, a draft date for NDCA’s 2022/23 Namoi Super Slog T20 comp was also locked in last Wednesday at the NDCA board meeting.

It will be held during the afternoon on Sunday, November 27, at a venue to be determined.

The defending champions Priag Marketing will once again be joined by WTC Earthmoving, Specialised Civil Services, and J and D Weed Management (formerly Rose Pest Control) in this season’s competition.

Those teams will all be represented by a new captain during the coming campaign, which will be announced prior to the draft event.

The competition will get underway on Friday, December 9, and will run across six rounds before the decider is played on Saturday, January 28.
