Six people were due to front Tamworth Local Court on Friday following their arrest in relation to the seizure of $21.8 million in cannabis at a Killarney Gap Road property in the early hours of Thursday morning.
In a joint operation, local Narrabri police officers were joined by Oxley criminal investigators, the Western Region enforcement squad, the police dog unit and special operations unit to go in under the cover of darkness and effect the arrest of five men – aged 28, 33, 35, 45 and 56 – and a 41-year-old woman for their alleged involvement in the elaborate cannabis setup.
The search warrant was executed at the property at 3am on Thursday and follows extensive inquiries.
In September 2022, officers from Oxley Police District established Strike Force Lyretrail to investigate the cultivation of cannabis on a remote property near Narrabri.
Investigators located 10,928 cannabis plants and further cannabis seeds, which were seized.

The plants varied in height, from small plants to 1.8 metres in height.
The six people were arrested at the Rocky Creek property and conveyed to Narrabri Police Station.
All six people were charged with knowingly take part in cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis and were initially refused bail to appear in court in Tamworth on Friday.
