The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia NSW (SSAA NSW) SSAA NSW in conjunction with SSAA Narrabri Branch held a Try Shooting event at the local range on Sunday, May 28.
SSAA NSW is the peak association for the shooting sports with over 62,000 members across New South Wales representing the safe, fun and all-inclusive range of sports available today.
As the leading authority on the safe handling and use of firearms, SSAA NSW also contributes to government policy direction and is involved in areas such as industry research and development, tailored educational programs and training, legal hunting, and conservation.
The Try Shooting day at Narrabri was focused on introducing new people to shooting sports in a safe environment with our highly skilled and dedicated range officers and officials.
Forty-five participants came from all over the local region to enjoy the day.
The initiative of SSAA NSW is headed up by board director Alison Worldon.
“It was great to have an event where men, women and juniors get to enjoy our sport in a safe environment. Everyone had a great day and a big thank you to local Narrabri branch for hosting the event at their range,” she said.
After a safety briefing and practical demonstration was held each participant was able to shoot under the supervision of range officers.
SSAA Narrabri branch president John Hallett said they hope to have many more try shooting days as the day was a success.
“To see that many people want to give shooting sports a go is incredible,” he said.
“The age range of people attending spread from 18-90 and is an all-ability sport.
“We always welcome new people to try the sport.”
