Narrabri Probus Club have just completed another very successful trip away.

This time it was a tour around some of the painted silos to check out the silo art.

Starting off early Tuesday morning amidst slight showers, it wasn’t long before the rain was left behind and a beautiful day followed.

First stop for the day was at Barraba where we pulled into a small park and enjoyed morning tea.

From there we checked out the murals along the street and then drove out to see the silo art and what a magnificent display of the three men on the silo.

After that we set off for Wallabadah where we had lunch in the First Fleet Park, before going to Quirindi and looked at the old railway bridge.

At Quirindi we checked out the painted silos there before settling into our motels.

Later we went to the RSL Club and ordered tea so the chef could cook the meal while we went out to see the silo when the lights came on.

Unfortunately, the lights didn’t come on, so we went back and enjoyed a sumptuous meal at the RSL before retiring for the night.

Next morning we made an early start and visited the rural museum where half the members enjoyed a cuppa and scones while the other half wandered through the museum displays.

So many of those present grew up with a lot of the displays so it was almost going back to our childhood.

From there we ventured to Bob’s Shed where we all enjoyed having a look through the collection, especially the old shop and Peter Brock’s collection.

After we partook in a great barbecue lunch, I was presented with a framed article by Bob that I had written about our last visit as a Probus Club back in 2014.

The conclusion of the trip we called at Gunnedah where we saw the Vietnam mural on the Gunnedah museum and then went down and had a good look at the Dorothea Mackellar mural and part of her poem My Country.

With all that behind us we finished off the trip back at Narrabri RSL where we all said our goodbyes.
