Dawn Armstrong, Marie Redman and Cindy Neil are Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2024 campaign club triples competition champs following a thrilling win in Sunday’s decider.

The trio took on Yvonne Hardman, Janice Foxe and Lisa Pillar in the final and prevailed 22 shots to 17 after 21 ends of play.

The winning team were forced to come from behind after Hardman, Foxe and Pillar got off to a flying start, claiming four of the first five ends to establish a nine shots to one lead.

Armstrong, Redman and Hardman then won three of the next four ends, including a seven on the ninth end to level the score up at 10 shots apiece.

Hardman, Foxe and Pillar claimed four of the next six ends to hold a 16 shots to 13 lead after 15 ends, but Armstrong, Redman and Hardman then went on a run where they won four straight ends to go ahead 19 shots to 16 with two ends left to play. The margin was reduced to two as Hardman, Foxe and Pillar scored one shot on the penultimate end, but Armstrong, Redman and Hardman sealed the victory with a three on the final end to prevail 22 shots to 17.

Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s 2024 campaign consistency singles competition matches were played on Thursday and Saturday.

Eva Sadler beat Dawn Armstrong 150-133 and Val Falkiner downed Marie Redman 150-118 on Thursday, and then Cindy Neil defeated Jan Etheridge 150-76 as Janet Coleman outscored Di Chessells 150-110 on Saturday.

There was also social bowls played last Thursday. In three-bowl pairs, Stuart Coleman and Carol Demamiel beat Yvonne Hardman and Bruce Tomlinson 24-9, and in three-bowl triples, Lyn Wedesweiler, Cecile and Tony Redman outscored Janet Coleman, Helen Woodward and Kay Carolan 21-10 while Glennis Godden, David Briggs and Berice Eather downed Rhonda Fitzgerald, Dean Hulbert and Ronnie Dewar 20-17.

There are two Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club games to be played this week:

Thursday – Janet Coleman v Val Falkiner (marker – Yvonne Hardman); Saturday – Eva Sadler v Lorraine Scott (marker – Marie Redman).
