Penny Hill was 20-years-old and had moved to Coolah for a job as a nanny in 1991.
“My late husband Felix and I and our son Andrew drove Penny over to Coolah to start her job on the Friday,” recalled her mother Jeanette Hill in an earlier interview with The Courier.
“We unpacked her and settled her in to the motel where she would be working. We took her to lunch at a hotel where we knew people, and then took her back to the motel and came home.
“When we said goodbye that’s the last time we saw her.
“Penny phoned on Sunday night to say ‘hello’ and tell us how she was getting on.
“The police came on Monday morning to tell us what had happened,” said Mrs Hill.
“Penny was found on Monday morning by an agriculture teacher on her way to the school. It was just out of town, not very far from the motel.
“Penny had suffered serious head injuries. It is occupying our waking thoughts ever since the attack,” said Mrs Hill.
