The Narrabri and District Historical Society welcomed people to the Museum and Old Gaol for an open day recently.

Members of the public were able to enjoy free access to the museum on a Saturday morning.

A steady stream of people enjoyed admiring the exhibits throughout the morning

Constructed in 1882, the site operated as a gaol until 1982 and was later restored in 1988 as a museum.

A hard-working committee of volunteers oversees the museum’s continued operation.

The museum boasts extensive displays, many relating to the history of Narrabri and the surrounding district as well as the history of the premises as Narrabri’s gaol.
