The district community has been invited to support a milestone event in the history of Red Cross.
On August 13, Narrabri Red Cross Club – formerly Narrabri ‘branch’ will join national celebrations of the 110th national anniversary of the organisation.
A birthday lunch hosted by the volunteer members of Narrabri Red Cross Club will be held at the Narrabri Bowling Club and everyone is welcome.
People are asked to book by phoning Judy Michell, 0428 657 999, by Friday, August 9.
“We are inviting people to wear something red to the lunch,” said Mrs Michell.
“It’s a chance for local people to come along show their appreciation for everything Red Cross has done for the community over the decades,” said long serving Red Cross member Kath Davis.
The Australian branch of the British Red Cross Society was formed on outbreak of the First World War, 1914.
Red Cross ‘has always been there’ in times of emergency and need, rendering service in the front lines of battlefields, finding missing persons, supporting prisoners of war, serving in natural disaster emergencies from flooding to COVID and helping people in a myriad of ways – all done voluntarily.
