The July meeting of Narrabri Garden Club was held at the Narrabri Craft Shop, which proved to be a great venue on a crisp July morning.
The main item for discussion was the upcoming weekend of floral art competitions, demonstrations and workshops conducted by the NSW Floral Art Association.
Mini workshops were organised in the weeks prior to the big event, to encourage new competitors who wished to participate.
Carolynne Tomlinson, Judy Haire and Kath Vinson were the winners of the monthly bloom competition. Congratulations, ladies.
Points are awarded to the winners each month, with the highest point scorer at the end of the year being awarded the Jean Harris Memorial trophy.
Members enjoyed a delicious soup lunch after the meeting.
Last weekend we hosted the New South Wales Floral Art Association for a weekend of competition, demonstrations and workshops.
This is the third time we have had the honour of hosting this event, which proved a great success.
Many members travelled from Sydney and across wider New South Wales to compete.
Some had recently travelled to the World competition in Oman, so we were thrilled to have these very talented floral artists in Narrabri.
Organisers were very pleased with the number of entries, especially from the locals, and the quality of the entries benched.
Our members all agreed that they came away from the weekend with a much greater knowledge of many of the techniques used in modern floral art.
A dinner held on Friday night was a great opportunity to cement friendships formed during previous visits, and form new ones.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 14 at Narrabri Community College, 100 Maitland Street, (see classifieds) commencing at 10am.
Morning tea will be available for purchase at T-Table.
