Many people know women members of the community who are quietly working away for the benefit of others. These are the kinds of people that SIAHTO recognises each year with the Woman of the Year award.
If you know someone you feel deserves recognition, perhaps working as a volunteer in one or more organisations, or is simply a ‘living treasure’ for her help to her family and others, SIAHTO would like to see her nominated for the award.
The group first presented Woman of the Year in 1982 and has awarded the honour every year since.
A nominee for the award must be a resident of Narrabri Shire and be dedicated and committed to her family and the community.
Nomination forms are available at the Monterey Cafe, The Courier office, Narrabri Pharmacy, McDonalds Fashions, CAMstart Pharmacy, Bridge Medical Centre and Helloworld Travel Centre.
“If you can think of a member of the community who deserves to be recognised for their efforts, please nominate them,” senior vice president Trish Allison said.
“Please don’t hesitate to nominate them, no matter how small or large their efforts have been.”
Recent awardees include Helen Dugdale, Dawn Armstrong, Cheryl Hennessy, Jess Voysey and last year’s recipient Doreen Baldwin.
Award recipients across the years have come from all walks of life.
Nominations will close on Friday, October 18.
