Wee Waa Fire and Rescue Station recently welcomed back Superintendent Adam Drewberry, the station’s former zone commander, for a presentation evening.
Superintendent Drewberry is now the media liaison for Fire and Rescue NSW.
He presented firefighter Travis Towns with a Long Service and Good Conduct medal for 10 years of service to Fire and Rescue NSW.
“Achieving this milestone is never easy – giving up family time, missing events or having broken sleep when the pager is going off for an emergency,” said acting Station Commander Todd Cowan.
Supt Drewberry presented firefighter Chris Johnson with the National Emergency Medal, which is awarded to firefighters for their efforts throughout the 2019-2020 bushfires.
“Firefighter Chris Johnson attended two strike teams throughout the period, which were the worst bushfires we have seen,” said commander Cowan.
Acting station commander Todd Cowan received his National Emergency Medal earlier this year at a presentation In Tamworth.
Acting Deputy Captain Jock Small was awarded a National Emergency Medal but was not able to attend the presentation.
Supt Drewberry expressed his gratitude to the four firefighters for their efforts throughout their careers and dedication to their local communities and state.
“Congratulations to our Acting Captain, Acting Deputy Captain and both firefighters for the continued effort.”
Acting Station Commander Cowan said the station is on the hunt for three more firefighters, and he was thrilled to recently welcome newest firefighter Kallan Marchant.
“He is now qualified to attend any incident we are called to after completing his phase one training.
“After a couple of months of attending the station for callouts, drill and online training he can finally jump in the truck and give his hand helping the community of Wee Waa.”
