‘Once Again with my Friends’ is the title for this year’s exhibition by Narrabri’s Creative Friends art group.
This will be their 11th consecutive exhibition. This one will be the best.
Since 2013 around 35 people have come and gone and mostly stayed to spend a treasured Thursday at the Narrabri Art & Craft Society studio. Ages have ranged from 25 to 89 years old. They have become known as the Creative Friends.
Those showing in 2024 are Judith Cameron, Olwyn Campey, Barbara Francis, Christine Fry, Jenny Grellman, Judy Nobilo, Craig Salmon, Helen Smith, Robin Stieger, Heather Tailby and Carmel Woolford.
‘There are no formal lessons, knowledge is shared. The goal is to always learn more about making art be it with pencils, pens, pastels, watercolour, acrylic or oil paint while continuously developing an individual style and voice. We support each other in many ways and share the knowledge that art is an essential part of a rich life.’
Scott Pollock of CREATE Festival fame will be opening ‘Once Again with my Friends’ on Friday evening, October 18, 6.30pm.
The title is appropriate as, sadly for the Narrabri Shire, Scott is retiring.
He is a friend to all things creative and has enlivened, challenged and supported our local art and craft makers during his time as manager for tourism and cultural services with the Narrabri Shire Council.
Several of the Creative Friends show their work during the Festival in the various art spaces; The Crossing Theatre, Narrabri Art & Craft Gallery and Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre. These are valuable opportunities to communicate and get better at what they do.
Narrabri Art & Craft Society once again welcomes you to celebrate the wonderful images made by Creative Friends and to farewell and thank our friend Scott.
All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.
The exhibition will run until November 21, 2024.
