People’s choice in the acclaimed BAMM (Bank Art Museum Moree) Biennale Portrait Prize has been awarded to Narrabri artist Deb Michell-Smith.
The entry is titled ‘Her Strength at the Station’s Heart, Forged in Dust and Sun – Stacey Ford’.
The acrylic-on-canvas portrait of the station manager at Fossil Downs, Stacey Ford, honours the strength, resilience and quiet leadership of women in remote agriculture – those who work the land with grit, grace and enduring spirit, BAMM said when announcing the people’s choice winner. “It’s a tribute to life forged in dust, sun and deep connection to country.”
