“Before this, farmers were stuck with messy seed coating methods—slow, unreliable, and not great for biological survival,” says Andrew Godwin, mechanical engineer at Loam Bio. “FurrowMate takes all the pain out of the process.”

How? For starters, it’s built to thrive in real-world conditions. Waterproof, dustproof, heatproof, and vibration-resistant, FurrowMate® is designed to handle whatever planting season throws at it.

Once you load your powder into the hopper, FurrowMate® kicks into gear, using GPS data to adjust your dosing rate on the fly. It delivers 10–50g/ha of biological into the air stream with precision, mixing it with the seed just before planting. The result? Uniform coverage, no waste, and full control.

That’s a big leap from the old way of doing things. Traditional seed treatments are time-consuming and risky. If you get held up by rain or a machine issue, your coated seed is exposed to air for too long. That degrades the microbes, sometimes beyond use.

“With FurrowMate®, you apply it right when it goes into the ground,” says Godwin. “There’s no downtime, no decay, no double-handling. It’s simple, and it works.”

FurrowMate® was further refined during the 2024 winter planting season, running alongside CarbonBuilder™—Loam Bio’s powdered fungal inoculum that supports the development of stable soil carbon. The field feedback was clear: strong performance with seamless integration. Those insights shaped what is now the final model—an incredible piece of tech, ready for market.
