‘More Than Words’ is the title for this year’s art exhibition by Narrabri’s Creative Friends.

It will open at the Narrabri Art & Craft Gallery on Friday, October 10 at 6.30 pm.

Painted and drawn images often express more than words and have the power to trigger memory, emotion and the intellect.

That is why many of us collect art and hang it on our walls.

The Creative Friends Art Group was started 12 years ago.

The only prerequisite to joining is to become a member of the Narrabri Art & Craft Society Inc., which is our community-owned place that continues to promote the arts and crafts.

For a small fee you are able to use the wonderful studio/workshop and gallery, sell your goods in the Craft Shop and, if you like, join a group, with Thursday being art day.

There are no formal lessons, knowledge is shared.

The goal is to always learn more about making art be it with pencils, pens, pastels, watercolour, acrylic or oil paint while continuously developing an individual style and voice.

Art is meant to be seen.

For those who are about to show their recent artworks to the Narrabri public and to their friends it is a privilege and an inspiration.

Those exhibiting in ‘More than Words’ are Judith Cameron, Olwyn Campey, Barbara Francis, Christine Fry, Jenny Grellman, Matthew Kebby, Tanya Needham, Judy Nobilo, Craig Salmon, Helen Smith, Robin Stieger, Heather Tailby and Carmel Woolford.

The artists ages range from 25 to 90-years-of-age.

A number of the group have won major prizes and most sell their work locally and further afield. All are talented and dedicated.

The society welcomes you to celebrate the wonderful images made by the Creative Friends.

All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.

The exhibition runs until November 6 (as advertised).
