Recently, Allan Boehm marked a significant milestone, his 85th birthday, surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his backyard in Boggabri.

The celebration brought together his four children.

Paul travelled from Caboolture in Queensland, Kym from Sydney, Vanessa from Bendemeer and Christine from Tamworth, and they brought along his five much loved grandchildren.

Adding to the excitement and surprises, two of his nieces travelled from Terranora and Tweed Heads to join in the celebrations.

The party was a relaxed two-day celebration of barbecues, reminiscing, memories, wild stories and lots of laughter.

Adding a special touch to the festivities, Noreen made Allan’s favourite carrot cake as his birthday cake, a staple at Boehm family celebrations.

His daughters were in their element whipping up salads to go with the snags, chicken and lamb kebabs, a fitting tribute to Allan’s enduring love for simple pleasures and good food.

It was a matter of egg and bacon rolls with hash browns for breakfast when 15 hungry people climbed out of bed.

As with most Boehm family get togethers and celebrations, there was a little hiccup.

On Sunday morning Noreen had not long woken up and was thinking of getting out of bed to start breakfast preparations when at 5.45 am there was a telephone call from the Brisbane Vital Call centre.

So, it was out of bed and dash down the street to a friend who was very unwell.

After the hustle and bustle of ambulance, fire brigade and a trip to the hospital with medications it was home to, why is everyone out of bed so early?

Throughout his life, Allan has remained deeply connected to his family.

His journey from Parkes to Sydney and then to Boggabri at the tender age of five years is a testament to the enduring spirit of the Boehm family.

Now, as a beloved patriarch, Allan’s birthday celebration brought generations together, reinforcing the bonds that have sustained his family over the decades and the love that surrounds him.
