The NSW Waratahs took the field for their first pre-season match of 2026 on Saturday, and the Narrabri Blue Boars juniors both impressed as Sid Harvey and Joey Fowler made an impact in a dominant 30-point victory.

The Waratahs took on the Queensland Reds at Brisbane’s Ballymore Stadium and got up 49-19 after leading 35-12 at the half-time break.

NSW had led from the second minute when debutant Harry Potter scored in his first match as a Waratah, which Harvey converted to make the score 7-0.

Harvey started the match on the wing in the number 11 jersey and finished the contest with 17 points after nailing all five of his conversions in the opening half and then scoring a 65-metre runaway try in the 72nd minute, which he then converted to make the score 49-12 and to finish with a perfect day off the tee at six from six.

The Reds then crossed for a try at the death to make the final score 49-19.

Fowler played in the number 24 jersey off the bench and was used at inside centre. He was solid in both attack and defence during his 21 minutes on the field.

The Waratahs will play their second and final trial match against the ACT Brumbies at Marist College in Canberra from 1.30pm today.

Harvey has been named on the bench as he makes way for returning Wallabies flier Max Jorgenson, while Fowler will not feature in that clash.

The NSW Waratahs’ 2026 Super Rugby Pacific campaign will get underway at Allianz Stadium on Friday, February 13, against the Reds.

Meanwhile, Fowler and Harvey have recently put the call-out to junior rugby players in the Narrabri Shire region to register to play for the Narrabri Junior Rugby Club in 2026.

In a video shared to social media this week, the duo and Jorgensen encouraged young players to pull on the junior Blue Boars jersey this year.
