Coogle Cafe was the venue for Narrabri Garden Club’s first meeting of 2026 on Wednesday, February 11.

Thanks to Matt and the Coogle Cafe team for the venue and great morning tea.

Judy Haire was presented with the Jean Harris Memorial trophy as the winner of the 2025 bloom competition.

Members are encouraged to bring along the best bloom from their garden, with points accruing each month towards the coveted trophy at the end of the year.

Jenni Hayne compiled a questionnaire on various plants and their habits, and members were encouraged to explore the nurser to find the answers.

Google may have assisted in some cases!

Members were reminded of the local show coming up on the first weekend in May, which will be here in a flash.

This year is the 150th Narrabri Show, so is quite a milestone for the Show Society and all the dedicated volunteers over all those years.

It’s time to start planning your entries for the cut flowers and floral art sections.

Other upcoming events of interest to members are the Gala Gardeners Day at Eulah Creek on Saturday, May 16, as well as the Wee Waa Flower Show and the Tamworth Garden Club’s 50th birthday celebrations all on the same day.

Sometimes everything just happens at once.

Judy Haire was, once again, the winner of our bloom competition with a beautiful rose.

This gives Judy a head start on retaining the trophy this year.

Judy Wilson and Kath Vinson were runners-up. Congratulations ladies.

Lyn Guest was the winner of a voucher for Coogle Cafe.

It was decided that we would forgo our March meeting in lieu of supporting Inner Wheel Club’s morning tea fundraiser for cord blood research, a very worthy cause, which is being held on the same morning, March 11 at the home of Joan Burrell-Melbourne.

If you would like to go and didn’t put your name down at our last meeting, please RSVP to Sue 0459 629 190 by Sunday, March 8.

Please bring a chair in case it’s needed.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
