Sid Harvey will likely make his Super Rugby Pacific debut off the bench tonight after being named in the number 23 jersey for the NSW Waratahs’ round four fixture against the Hurricanes at Allianz Stadium.

The former Narrabri Junior Blue Boar and 2023 Narrabri High School vice-captain excelled for the Tahs’ triumphant Super Rugby Aus side last year and was named in the team of the tournament. He was later rewarded with an upgrade from the club academy to the senior squad in November.

Having impressed across the pre-season in both training and trial games, he now gets his opportunity to make an impact on the big stage after missing out on selection across the first three rounds.

The Waratahs shared a popular video on social media this week of Harvey Facetiming his mother, Carmel, and father, Denis, to inform them of his selection, and the entire Narrabri community will be behind him tonight.

His journey sees him follow in the footsteps of former Narrabri rugby greats such as Chris Latham, Scott Gourley and Michael Brial, who all went on to play for the Wallabies, as well as his older sister, Martha, who debuted in the Super Rugby Women’s competition for the Waratahs just under a year ago.

Tonight’s clash is expected to be a tough one for the Waratahs, who are undefeated to start the season.

The Hurricanes are on an eight-game winning streak against the NSW Waratahs in Super Rugby Pacific, holding them to fewer than 20 points six times in that stretch, including in each of their last four encounters.

The Waratahs have not won at home to the Hurricanes in Super Rugby Pacific since a 39-30 win at the old Allianz Stadium in Round 12, 2014, losing four such fixtures since, despite conceding 30+ points only once in that time.

However, the NSW men are in good form, having begun their 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season with back-to-back wins. They will be looking to win their first three games of the campaign for the second year in a row after not doing so in any of their previous 17 seasons.
